We may take a new scan, update the treatment plan, and create another series of aligners to guide the remaining movements.

Why might your teeth not move exactly as planned?
Invisalign treatment uses digital planning to show how we expect your teeth to move. But the plan remains a prediction.
Teeth, unfortunately, have never agreed to behave quite like pixels on a screen.
One tooth may move more slowly than another. A rotation may need more time. A root may require additional movement, or an aligner may stop fitting as closely around a particular tooth.
Your bite may also need further adjustment even when your smile already looks quite straight.
None of these situations automatically means something went wrong. They simply mean we need to assess what has actually happened rather than rely only on what the original simulation predicted.
Does needing refinements mean Invisalign has failed?
No. Needing refinements alone does not mean Invisalign has failed.
