You should also tell us if an aligner lifts away from a tooth, feels unusually loose or no longer seats properly. These changes may show that a tooth is not following the planned movement.
The refinement appointment process
We begin by examining your teeth and comparing their current positions with the planned result.
We will usually take a new digital scan. This scan records the updated shape and position of your teeth. It gives us accurate information for the next stage of planning.
We then identify which teeth require further movement and revise your treatment plan accordingly. Your additional aligners are made from this updated plan.
When they are ready, you begin wearing them as instructed. You will continue attending progress checks so we can monitor how your teeth respond.
Your existing attachments may remain in place. We may also remove, change or add attachments if the next movements require a different type of support.
The number of refinement aligners required
There is no standard number of refinement aligners. The amount depends on how much movement remains and which teeth need adjustment.
